Abstract

The article deals with possibilities of rewarding employees for work performance under the conditions of Slovak legislation. It provides a basic overview of the legislation in area of remuneration, relationships between employee and employer and legislation regarding the payment of wages as remuneration for work. The concept of total rewards is outlined as an opportunity to extend the employer´s options in the field of rewarding employees in view of emerging generational differences in preferred work values.
